Abhay Javakhedkar is a brilliant Iyengar yoga teacher who learned the yogic discipline from Sri BKS Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar for more than 35 years at Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune. Abhay’s parents were already the disciples of Guruji and shared a special bond with Iyengars. Abhay’s dedication towards yoga acquired valuable yogic wisdom and experience of teaching in yoga classes with Guruji and Geetaji. This paved the way for his broad understanding of Yogshastra.
Abhay has shared his yogic wisdom to train and heal people from diverse age groups, backgrounds, and professions. He has mentored children in the age group of 8-20 years, guided women in acquiring well being and has worked as a therapist for people with different physical and psychological and physiological issues. Yogacharya Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani is Director of the Centre for Yoga Therapy Education and Research (CYTER), and Professor of Yoga Therapy at the Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Pondicherry (www.sbvu.ac.in). Dr Ananda is MBBS, ADY, DPC, DSM, PGDFH, PGDY, FIAY, MD (Alt.Med), C-IAYT, DSc (Yoga). A disciple of yoga legend Sri T Krishnamacharya Sri A.G. Mohan recognized his guru at the age of 25 years and was privileged to acquire yogic wisdom directly from the yoga icon. A.G. Bharath Shetty is an adept yoga icon with over 2 decades of experience in mentoring numerous yoga seekers including more than 1000 teachers spanning over 80 countries. Moreover, he is the first Indian teacher to acquire E-RYT 500 certification along with Yoga Alliance certification in Prenatal and children yoga, YACEP, RCYT and RPYT.
He incepted Indeayoga with an aim to allow people reach to the level of self-realization that happiness and contentment lie in achieving what is lacking in their lives and that yoga facilitates that journey at just the physical level and asanas but at the most profound levels where the integration of mind, body, and soul is achieved. Dr. Deepak Sachdeva (Ph.D) is an extraordinary medical yoga practitioner who utilizes his yogic acumen in healing patients at his center,Dr. Deepak Sachdeva’s Medical Yoga, Delhi. She began her yoga practice at the age of 13 years. A science scholar and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from IISC Bangalore, Dr Nagendra has been a part of prestigious organizations like NASA and prestigious educational institutions as a senior faculty member. Founder of Prashant Yogashraya Retreat Center in Bengaluru, Arunji’s association with yoga and Guruji Sri BKS Iyengar began in 1978. A chartered accountant by profession, destiny drew him towards yoga as Arunji developed Asthma. Arunji became Guruji’s disciple and has been one of the very few Indians to attend several intensive classes which were held at the Iyengar Institute in Pune. He also honed his practice with both Prashantji and Geetaji Iyengar. Over the years, Arunji has developed his own way of sharing what he has learned from his gurus and through his own extensive practice.
In the past 25 years, thousands of students have come to learn from him at Prashant Yogashraya, his yoga center in Bangalore, where he teaches along with his wife, Srimathaji. Prashant Yogashraya is an institution that keeps its doors open to all, and all the year-round. He has a large student following in South America – in Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, and Venezuela. He has also been invited repeatedly to teach in the United States of America and spends several months each year sharing his knowledge from coast to coast. Zubin is the founder of Iyengar Yogabhyasa Matunga and a dedicated Iyengar yoga teacher. He learned Iyengar yoga under the tutelage of Sri BKS Iyengar whom he deeply reveres. Guruji healed Zubin’s father from ankylosing spondylitis. He joined guruji soon after for 27 years of enlightenment. Zubin witnessed the power of yogic science and Guruji’s unique and compassionate approach of teaching. After his graduation, he started teaching yoga for some time and later embraced the teaching and propagation of yoga as his sole purpose in life.
Zubin has traveled with guruji extensively assisting him in conventions and workshops worldwide. He has been instrumental in spreading the ethos of yoga expansively through numerous workshops, conferences, demonstrations, and his articles. As a teacher, Zubin focuses on helping practitioners evolve and explore their individual practice with mind, body, and soul completely involved in the practice. He believes even the teacher is a constant learner, he is more of a companion in the yogic journey always discovering new dimensions of practice. Zubin provides the required guidance and inspiration to his disciples and comprehends the true meaning of yoga.
